Castello di Verduno is an historic Piemontese estate that makes classic Barolo and Barbaresco from prime vineyard sites in both appellations. Their Basadone is made from 100% Pelaverga, a local varietal that is not used by many producers anymore. The drawing on the label is of a poppy flower, called basadone in the local dialect. Basadone also means "little kiss", a reference to the local belief that the Pelaverga grape is an aphrodisiac. Fresh, herbal, ripe red fruit.
