Signore Famoso is produced by Ancarani in the village of Oriolo dei Fichi, located 25 miles southwest of Ravenna.  In 2000, everyone believed Famoso was extinct, but it was rediscovered among two rows of old vines in the city of Forli. Wine made from Famoso is naturally inclined towards pronounced aromatics. Ancarani's version uses higher-elevation vineyards, concrete fermenting vessels, and earlier harvest times to bring those aromatics into beautiful harmony. The result is a wine that seamlessly balances mineral, fruit, and acidity.
