Hailing from a small wine region (only 100 acres) called Moselle just over the mountain from Alsace comes this exciting single vineyard 100% Pinot Noir. Moselle had been badly affected by wars and pest infestation causing it to become almost fully abandoned, but in 1999 Marie-Geneviève and Norbert Molozay discovered Chateau de Vaux (built in the 16th century) and saw extraordinary potential, ultimately reviving France’s most northern wine region. Today Château de Vaux owns 1/3 of the region’s vines and makes high end wines that embody the region’s character. Bright red and black fruit jump out of the glass with aromas of spicy pepper, wet earth, and leather.
