Cascina Fornace winery, started by brothers Enrico and Emanuele in 2009, is located in the Piemonte region of Italy. Their vineyards are located on rugged hillsides that are so steep they must be worked entirely by hand. The brothers are dedicated to practicing biodynamic farming without the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides, nor do they till the soil between rows. They cultivate grasses and herbs within the vineyard to develop a balanced biodiversity that promotes vineyard health. The brothers intentionally harvest a low yield of grapes per acre at around 40-60% of the total amount allowed.
